Security & your data

Last updated: June 26, 2026

PLAYCODE3 LLC builds tools for writers. The trust you place in us when you put your work in our app matters. This page explains, in plain language, how we handle your data, what we store, what we never do with it, and how you stay in control. For the formal privacy and terms language, see Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Your work belongs to you

Anything you write in Screenplay Assistant is yours. You hold the copyright. You can read it, edit it, export it, and delete it. We do not claim ownership over your screenplay, your characters, your story, or anything you create with the help of the app.

We do not train AI models on your screenplays

Your work is not used to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any AI model. Not ours, not third party, not ever. The AI features in the app use commercial language model APIs to format and assist as you write, and those vendor APIs are configured to not retain your inputs for training.

What we store

  • Your screenplays and project data: stored in Google Firestore so you can come back to your work across devices and sessions.
  • Account info: the email address you sign in with, used to recognize you and to send product updates if you asked for them.
  • Activity for product improvement: aggregate usage of features (which buttons get clicked, which features get used) so we can decide what to improve.

What we never store

  • Any password you use with your sign-in provider. Authentication goes through your provider directly. We never see it.
  • Payment information. Paid-plan payments go through Stripe and we never see or store card numbers ourselves.
  • Your IP address as part of your saved account profile. IP addresses may be used transiently for security and abuse-prevention — for example, CAPTCHA verification and rate-limiting in The Café — and web analytics anonymize IPs.

Encryption

All traffic to playcode3.ai and to Screenplay Assistant uses HTTPS (TLS). Data at rest in Firestore is encrypted by Google Cloud. Backups inherit the same encryption.

Where your data lives

Your screenplay data is stored in Google Cloud regions in the United States. Sign-in is handled by Google Identity Services. The marketing website is hosted on Netlify. Email and analytics use Google services. We do not move your data to other regions for processing.

Who can see your work

Inside the app, your private projects are visible only to you. PLAYCODE3 staff do not browse user screenplays as a routine matter. Access to your account data is limited to the owner and a small number of administrators, and is used only when you ask us for support or when we need to investigate a bug you reported.

One exception by design: content you choose to post in our optional community chatroom, "The Café," is public to the other people in the room. That is separate from your private screenplay work, which stays private to your account.

How long we keep your data

  • While your account is active: we keep your screenplays so you can return to them.
  • If you delete a screenplay: it is removed from your active project list immediately and purged from backups within 30 days.
  • If you delete your account: email contact@playcode3.ai from the address tied to your account. We delete your screenplays and account data within 30 days, except where a longer retention is required by law.

Export at any time

You can export your screenplay from inside the app at any time: TXT and PDF on every plan, and Final Draft (.fdx) and Word (.docx) on paid plans, plus your storyboards and rendered videos. We recommend exporting along the way as a normal backup habit, the same way you would with any cloud-based writing tool.

Vulnerability reports

If you find a security issue, please email us at contact@playcode3.ai with the subject line "Security report". We will respond and we will not pursue legal action against good-faith researchers who report issues responsibly.

Open questions

If anything here is unclear, or if you want a deeper answer about how a specific piece of data is handled, email contact@playcode3.ai. We answer security and privacy questions personally.
